Beyonce, Beyonce, Beyonce…..The Experience came to D.C. Last Nite!
August 10th, 2007 by Betty Scoop | Filed under Uncategorized.Let’s see, I really don’t know where to begin..so I guess I’ll start with the opener which was R&B singer Robin Thicke (*blank stare* crickets)……O.K. now for Beyonce “Sasha” Knowles…Ladies and Gentleman this spectacular extravaganza was nothing short of AMAZING….. the show opened with “Crazy in Love” and Chaka Demus & Pliers’ “Murder She Wrote”. ….She went on to do “Dangerously In Love” but she broke it down in the middle and respectfully bellowed out her own rendition of “He Loves Me” by Jill Scott…other Dangerously in Love performances included “Speechless and Me, Myself and I”. We experienced a Flashback with hits like “Survivor”, “Independent Women” (the ladies, me included went crazy) and “Bug A Boo”…..Wooooo, it’s so much fun reminiscing!
Sasha’s (her admitted alter ego) performances included BDay hits “Suga Mama”, “Upgrade U” and “Freakum Dress”…and a flawless version of “Flaws and all”. The hottest part of this segment was her “He had it coming” parody with her major hit “Ring the Alarm” just like in the stage play “Chicago” her dancers each told their story of how they met and killed their men and then of course Beyonce came out and told her story….off tha chain….Woooo! (sidebar: ahem…I Wooooed all nite and my throat is killing me)…this was especially nice because she didn’t stumble, trip or bust her a$$. Her effortless singing, dancing and dramatics remind me of a modern day Tina Turner and then some. As the end approached she sang mega hits “Get me bodied” in which she wore a cute Bumble Bee outfit (sequenced of course) and then B summoned me on stage (just like we rehearsed) and asked me to sing “Irreplaceable” because she had been up there two hours and was tired (I warned her that would happen)……..What? that could’ve easily happened…Haters!…O.K. it was more like she asked the entire audience to sing it (I was the loudest tho….). She eloquently closed with “Sasha has left the building and Beyonce says thank you”….classic.
We enjoyed other treats throughout the show, like her male and female dancers ..and all girl band , who took turns rocking out on their instruments (I’m talking three drummers, trumpets, two pianists, saxophones, and an outstanding guitarist….and did I mention all female) …..The entire show felt like one big production that took you everywhere from The club, a Broadway show, a movie, to a video or conversation with one of your girlfriends and then back to the club again!. The headline was perfectly entitled “The BDay Experience”…simply because it wasn’t just a Beyonce Concert….it was an amazing Experience not to be missed….All and all it was engaging, super sexy and super fun!
Note: I know this post is extra long……but the crazy part is I didn’t even tell yall everything…somethings will remain between me, B and the few thousand people who joined us! wink*

OMG Meeka! I was at the show too (ok, so we went together) and i couldn’t have broken down the hilights any better myself, you may want to send this review to the Post or B’s people themselves as you summed up the “Experience” perfectly…I was SO happy she brought the robot from the BET performance, when she came out in that little bumble bee fit, that was too cute! It was so fun seeing the whole Verizon center up and dancing!!! p.s. um, where’s my gravatar imgage man??
