December 20th, 2007 by Betty Scoop | Filed under Uncategorized.

The Screen Actors Guild nominations were announced this morning. The actors’ guild went wild for “Into the Wild’ giving the film four SAGgy nods. Emile Hirsch earned a nod in the Male Actor in a Leading Role category while co-stars Hal Hobrook and Catherine Keener were recognized for their supporting work in the film. ‘Into the Wild’ is also up for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and will be competing with ‘3:10 to Yuma,’ ‘American Gangster,’ ‘Hairspray’ and ‘No Country For Old Men.’
Hirsch will be duking it out with George Clooney (’Michael Clayton’), Daniel Day Lewis (’There Will Be Blood’), Ryan Gosling (’Lars and the Real Girl’) and Viggo Mortensen (’Eastern Promises’).
For Female Actor in a Leading Role, the competition is just as firece: Cate Blanchett (’Elizabeth: The Golden Age’), Julie Christie (’Away From Her’), Marion (’La Vie En Rose’), Angelina Jolie(’A Mighty Heart’) and Ellen Page (’Juno’).
The SAG Awards also recognized television acting and nominated the casts of “30 Rock,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Entourage,” “The Office” and “Ugly Betty” for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
Competing for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series are “Boston Legal,” “The Closer,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Mad Men” and “The Sopranos.”
The 14th Annual SAG Awards will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center. It will be broadcast on both TNT and TBS.
Although I didn’t see half of these movies, OK maybe none of these movies, I’m very excited about the television nominations. Ugly Betty and The Office are my favorites for comedy….and while looking at the drama nominations I couldn’t help but to notice those saggy bastards failed to include HBO’s groundbreaking hit “The Wire” ….What’s up with that? (sigh) therefore… I hearby boycott the drama portion of the show..humph.
