Grammy (Un)forgettable Performances
February 11th, 2008 by Betty Scoop | Filed under Uncategorized.Alicia opened the show with a Frank Sinatra tribute….and later performed “No One” with John Mayer.
Carrie Underwood did her kickass angry redneck song.

This actually was a forgetable duo as Rihanna did “jungle love” with Morris Day. She appeared to be a cute little ostrich at first, but when it came to the dancing, Rhi Rhi looked like a bird (whose wings had been clipped) still trying to fly. It just didn’t go over too well. But it was interesting seeing Morris Day. “Oh-wee-oh-wee-oh….Jungle Love”

another forgettable number…..Fergie and John Legend…I would tell you what she sang, but honestly I don’t remember, nor do I feel like looking it up….
Best In Show: the “Diva Duet” with Beyonce and Tina Turner. These two gave a powerhouse performance as they nailed “Proud Mary”. It was truly amazing to see Tina Turner gracefully share the stage with the ultra talented Beyonce.

Thank God there was no upstaging or unecessarily loud riffing…I’m sure Beyonce respectfully held back but at almost 70 years old Tina had no problem keeping up. I loved it!
Kanye performed with a “Mama” haircut as he did a tribute to his Mother Donda West.
Whoa, that Amy Winehouse performance was quite a nail biter. I didn’t know what was going to happen. I was thinking please just get through it without falling down or slurring any words. And she made it! Barely, but she made it. I was nervous when she started doing the crackhead shake (no offence), and shouting out Blake’s name during the performance. The first time she shouted out “Blake’”I immediately pictured Whitney Houston shouting out “Bobbay’”during the Greatest Love of All. As a matter of fact there were several things about her performance that reminded me of Whitney. But all in all I’m happy she made it through, even though I know the producers had there hand on the cut button the whole time just in case she started throwing chairs.

Okay Betty I am usually with you but I have to correct you on some things.
First of all Why not Herbie Hancock he is a legend, it can’t be Pop all the time.
…and yes Rihanna was a tad stiff, but she looked phenomanal, and Morris Day was the shit.
