Hot damn it’s 70 degrees today: It’s time to Break out the sandals

March 28th, 2008 by Betty Scoop | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

I woke up this morning, and on the news it said 70 degrees today, and I said thank you Jesus! I knew what I had to do. It was time to break out my sandals, and kick off sandal season. Sandal season is the time during the year, regardless of the occasion, that I consistently have sandals on my feet. Flats, flip flops, wedges, and heels it all works. Well not all of it.

This is something I just won’t do. It’s just wrong. These shoes are only for working girls on the beach.

Don’t worry if you are late in the sandal game, and haven’t gotten a pair yet, here’s a selection of some of the hottest footwear for Spring and Summer.

Flats with an Attitude

Last season we had fun with flats, especially with the gladiator sandal. This season is reminiscent of last , but with a little more snap. Both pairs of flats can be purchased at Urbanoutfitters.com. The Jeffrey Campbell Beaded Thong on the left retails for $88 and the black Skari ankle wrap sandal on the right retails for $58

Wedge-eh-Fied

Sandal Wedges are pretty classic in the world of sandals. They provide great support, and they’re cute as hell. You can get them in practically every color and pattern. Both pairs of Wedges can be purchased from Stevemadden.com. The Yellow Pathos shoe on the left retails for $89.95, and the Cerona shoe on the right retails for $79.95.

High “heel” Priority

Sophisticated ladies and some gentleman, will have fun with this seasons sexy high heeled sandals. We all know once the sun comes out, we hit the club in droves to show off our new summer physiques, and the latest addition to our collection of shoes. The Megan platform shoe is available at bebe.com and retails for $149.00 and it’s almost as fabulous as The Victoria shoe.
The Satin sandal on the right is available at bcbg.com and retails for $149.

Alright, I’ve done my part. Please, don’t be the only idiot running around in Uggs in 80 degree weather. That would be inappropriate.

The battle for the hottest looks of the week

March 7th, 2008 by Betty Scoop | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Mother Vs. Son

Sarah Jessica Parker looked unquestionably stunning during her ‘Sex and the City’ themed photo shoot…but I’ m gonna have to give this battle to her son James Wilkie. His look is stylish and eclectic. Who hasn’t wanted to leave the house in striped pj’s, Uggs, and a parka from time to time. Anyone would look like a million bucks in SJP’s clothes, but it takes real fashionisto to pull off James Wilkie’s look.

Belly vs. Belly

Jessica Alba is glowing in this (Temperley London) gown, making pregnancy look easy breezy, while Minnie Driver on the other hand looks more than less than enthused to be carrying her load. This battle is a definite Jessica Alba knock out.

Rhihanna vs. Rhi-Rhi

Rhianna rarely makes a fashion fumble, so sometimes it’s about choosing the best of the best. I love her (in Chanel) on the left. The colors and design definitely make her stand out….but, she is absolutely killing it in this (Fendi) dress, with the black and neon yellow Victoria Shoe (by Giambattista Valli) . HaHaHaHaHOT!

Celebutart vs. Celebutart

Lindsay’s fashion is so hit or miss, and we are definitely throwing this look in the miss pile. She is just trying way to hard to make a statement…and I’m not sure what kind statement she is trying to make by putting street signs on her ass, but “to each his own”. Mischa takes this battle with her perfectly crafted look, which totally modernizes 80’s glam.

Fashionista vs. Fashionista

Kerry Washington (in Oscar de la Renta), usually looks picture perfect. But I am afraid that in this floral gown, her style is puking up daisies. So ,Victoria is victorious stomping her competition in a (Marc Jacobs) dress, and Batman by her side.

Fierce Fabulous and Flawless: Christian Soriano wins Project Runway

March 6th, 2008 by Betty Scoop | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized
Fierceness, fabulousness, and flawlessness is what it took to win Project Runway this season. Although his collection is not wearable, practical, or flattering to most women, as Heidi would say it was the most impressive. And finally the person that deserved to win actually won, and that’s Project Runway history. Okay!

I really did like Rami’s collection, but seriously his color choices were awful. Why would you make a beautiful draped top with impeccable weaving in booger green with pants to match? Who looks good in booger green?

…And I loved loved loved Jillian’s Collection. Her clothes were SICK! I did not expect her line to be that funky and hip. It was my favorite. I think her issue was that , her clothes looked like it was a colabo from 5 different collections, 5 AMAZING, but still different collections.

Better luck next time…Now I guess I can bring my full attention to the horror that is American Idol. Auf Wiedersehen!

Project Runway Finale

February 27th, 2008 by Betty Scoop | 3 Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

The curtain will close on Project Runway tonight. Who will be in, Chris or Rami? And most importantly who’s gonna win this beotch? Most of America, including myself, are rooting for Christian, the fiercest little gay pixie ever. Although, if you’ve watched seasons past you know the designer that should win, never does. I do the same thing to myself every year. I get overly excited about the Project Runway finale. I sit directly in front of the TV (seriously I sit nose to screen) with my glass of white wine, and watch intently. There is usually one designer that

I just know is going to win. (I be like, he/she better win!) I sit on the edge of my seat waiting for the judges to announce the winner. And then…doom doom doom…. they announce the winner. And it never fells, I am always outraged and pissed about who the winner is (I shout this is BULLSHIT!), and vow to never watch the show again. It has become a ritual I look forward to. Well this year I couldn’t wait, so I decided to take peek at the designers collections. All of the final 5 designers showed their collection during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, so there would be no spoilers. I posted a look from each designers collection, so you can place your bets. Carry on!

Jillian’s collection

Christian’s collection
Rami’s Collection
Chris’s collection
Sweet P’s Collection

And lookee lookee at which America’s Next Top Models are actually working. Who knew?

It’s Jaslene, Bianca, and Danielle, Tyra would be so proud.

There were tons of looks I loved, but I was most surprised, pleasantly, by Rami. The man can actually do something other than drape. Who would have thunk it? Okay, just 10 more hours of suspense. Just hang tight. Till then, Auf Wiedersehen!

Mischa Barton’s Makeunder

February 19th, 2008 by Betty Scoop | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

I have been jumping for joy for the past few days, after seeing that Lindsay finally put a dark rinse over that hideous blond hair that made her look 36 and a half. I was just in the middle a shouting hallelujah, when I saw Mischa Barton’s new hair color.

Oh no! I can’t take this bleach blond look any more. Blond barely looks good on natural blonds, why would she think this would look good on her? And don’t get me started on that hat. Thanks a lot Mischa for ruining my spiritual high.

Hold the phone: Coco Chanel’s hottest new assessory

February 15th, 2008 by Betty Scoop | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

It’s glass bitches…and absolutely stunning. The phone was designed by Fred de GARILHE. It works by “integrating an optical fiber system that display images between two glass parts…blah blah blah… it’s so pretty. There is no word on when and if this phone will be available to the incredibly chic masses, but I thought it was pretty enough to just admirer. For more info on this phone click here.

Promotional Material

February 15th, 2008 by Betty Scoop | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Here we go again with Gnarls Barkley, another Black man in a dress looking less than fabulous. This is a promotional pic for their sophomore album the Odd Couple which drops in April. I am really curious to know what is it about dressing in ladies clothing that appeals to these men. Don’t you want to know? I mean do they think it’s cute; is it a right of passage; is it to get in touch with their feminine side? Can some one please tell me?

On to Danity Stain!

Here is the picture for Danity Kane’s new album cover. Is it me or do Aubrey and Shannon look like the same person? And why are they all making a face like Andrea stinks or something? I really think these girls should talk to Puff-Diva about possibly getting some lessons in fierceness, from the folks over at America’s Next Top Model. Just a thought.

Next Stop Bryant Park (WARNING: Don’t read if you have not seen last nights episode.

February 14th, 2008 by Betty Scoop | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Christian: The Challange Winner

His final look was fire, it was so hot. Christian is definitely the designer who had the most specific point of view, and consistently produced good if not great garments. I am most excited to see his line at Bryant Park

Sweet P: The Challenge Loser

I really liked Sweet P, and I wish she was getting another chance instead of Rami (the one trick draping pony), but her look just wasn’t strong enough. I think if she would have made the dress longer, like an evening gown it would have made more of a statement.

Jillian: Showing at Bryant Park

Jillian also has done consistently well in the competition. Although she is not as lively as the other designers she may prove to be silent, yet deadly on the runway.

The Toss up: Rami(top) and Chris(bottom)

We still don’t know who the third designer to show their collection will be, because the judges could not come to a decision. Both designers will have to do an entire collection, but only one will show their collection (gosh I sound like Heidi). This will really suck for the person that gets the boot, all that work for nada. I am really really really praying that Chris has as an amazing collection, because I really don’t want to have to sit through Rami’s entire collection, which will no doubt be draping in every color and length. (blahhhh!)

Natalie Potmans launches her collection of Vegan shoes

February 13th, 2008 by Betty Scoop | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Natalie who is a vegan herself has designed a cruelty-free line of shoes for Te Casan. Although no animals were hurt in the production of these shoes, your pockets might be. These shoes are retailing for about $300. The fact that all the proceeds will be going to The Nature Conservancy still isn’t enough to get me to purchase these shoes… But feel free to check out the collection. Cick here.
