More Grammy Coverage

February 11th, 2008 by Betty Scoop | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

I’m proud of Aretha Franklin for covering up one arm during her performance, now if only we could get her to cover that other arm cleavage we would be all good.

Good Golly Miss Molly himself…rocked a feathered mushroom with a long flap in the back (the 90’s style me and my friends had in Junior High) as he performed with Jerry Lee Lewis.

Usher presented “Album of the Year”. I’m sure it was a great album, but …..C’mon Herbie Handcock really?
Rihanna took home a grammy for “Umbrella” ft. Jayz.
sidebar: she yanked Jay Z out the chair when it was time to accept her award. I wonder what Bey thought of that gesture….just curious.

Amy Winehouse won five grammys. She performed in London via satelite. During her speech she was sure to thank in her words”an incarcerated Blake” it was so special.

I’m almost positive they’re laughing at Beyonce’s dress…and she’s looking down at it like “it’s not that bad…My mama made this dress”
Love was in the air….

Rumored couple Rihanna and her funny valentine Chris Brown

It looks like Alicia was getting in the way of what the guy to the left was feeling. Something tells me he’s the type that if you needed a seat he’d hurry up and gap his legs open like “there’s no room” A. Keys probably had to squeeze her way in and he doesn’t seem to care she’s a grammy winning artist.

Carrie Underwood posing with her grammy backstage. Alicia Keys accepts her award as she channels “In Living Color’s” Vera DeMilo in that muscle dress.
Apparently one man’s trash bag is another woman’s dress….Jill Scott wore a hefty hefty cinch sack original (I can see your spanx Jill). I really hate that Jill wore this dress because she’s so pretty. Cher looks like she was attacked by a gang of alley cats who thought she was a fresh bag of garbage.
T-Pain “The Leprechaun” finds his gold”!

Alicia opened the show with a Frank Sinatra tribute….and later performed “No One” with John Mayer.

Carrie Underwood did her kickass angry redneck song.

This actually was a forgetable duo as Rihanna did “jungle love” with Morris Day. She appeared to be a cute little ostrich at first, but when it came to the dancing, Rhi Rhi looked like a bird (whose wings had been clipped) still trying to fly. It just didn’t go over too well. But it was interesting seeing Morris Day. “Oh-wee-oh-wee-oh….Jungle Love”

another forgettable number…..Fergie and John Legend…I would tell you what she sang, but honestly I don’t remember, nor do I feel like looking it up….

Best In Show: the “Diva Duet” with Beyonce and Tina Turner. These two gave a powerhouse performance as they nailed “Proud Mary”. It was truly amazing to see Tina Turner gracefully share the stage with the ultra talented Beyonce.

Thank God there was no upstaging or unecessarily loud riffing…I’m sure Beyonce respectfully held back but at almost 70 years old Tina had no problem keeping up. I loved it!

Kanye performed with a “Mama” haircut as he did a tribute to his Mother Donda West.

Karis Michelle’s two cents on Winehouse:
Whoa, that Amy Winehouse performance was quite a nail biter. I didn’t know what was going to happen. I was thinking please just get through it without falling down or slurring any words. And she made it! Barely, but she made it. I was nervous when she started doing the crackhead shake (no offence), and shouting out Blake’s name during the performance. The first time she shouted out “Blake’”I immediately pictured Whitney Houston shouting out “Bobbay’”during the Greatest Love of All. As a matter of fact there were several things about her performance that reminded me of Whitney. But all in all I’m happy she made it through, even though I know the producers had there hand on the cut button the whole time just in case she started throwing chairs.

Grammy Coverage: Red Carpet

Sisters Solange and Beyonce played dress up as little Bo Beep and fairy princess Barbie. I’m ashamed to say I don’t know whose Ashford and whose Simpson, and at this point I don’t think it matters, I love ‘em but they’ve both morphed into one big mess style wise. The lady (the one without the goatee) looks like Paula Abdul a little.

Keyshia Cole dressed in all black….Fergie was there in a canary number. Is it me or is there a bump in that bannana? Either that or too many tamales on that Mexican vacation she took last month. Click the pic and you’ll see what I mean.

Nelly Furtado and Natasha Bedingfield

Alica keys (it that a nerf ball in her hand?) her “boyfriend” Kerry Brothers and Evanessence’s Amy Lee.

Corine Bailey Rae always looks soggy and sad no matter what she has on and former ANTM wanna be Tocarra posed like it was her 1st grade class picture…..CHEESE!

Former winners Carrie Underwood and Fantasia Barrino, represented American Idol, as did grammy nominee Chris Daughtry.

Miley Cyrus. Rihanna showed up ironically as one of those frilly ruffled umbrellas.

Chris Brown, Ludacris and Ne-Yo dapperly represented Hip Hop and R&B .
