Whoppi gets an apology from the producer of the Oscars

February 27th, 2008 by Betty Scoop | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Everyone took notice, when Whoopi Goldgerg became emotional Monday on The View while discussing the fact that she was omitted from the montage of hosts during the Academy Awards broadcast. Whoopi announced on The View today that Gil Cates the shows producer called her and said “he made an oversight, pure and simple. You know I love you … It was a mistake, and I’m sorry I didn’t catch it.”
It is always big of someone to admit a mistake, I’m just not buying that it was a mistake. I seriously doubt there were many black women with dread locks on the Oscar’s footage, she is kinda hard to miss in a sea of white folks. I think that Whoopi is on a top rated daytime show, and showed that she was really upset by the snubb. With the strong reactions and support she got from her fans, I think the Academy folks decided it was in there best interest to make nice. But, hey that’s showbiz.

Whoppi Goldberg and Brad Renfro left out at the Oscars

February 25th, 2008 by Betty Scoop | No Comments | Filed in Uncategorized

Most people watching the Oscars last night noticed that Brad Renfro was left out during the “In Memoriam” tribute. An Academy spokesperson had this to say:
“It was really an editing decision because we can’t fit everyone in,” says a rep for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. “There was no specific reason.” In other words, they are saying he was not worth mentioning. Pretty effed up in my opinion.

Whoppi was also left out

Another person left out was Whoppi Goldberg, who was not included in the Oscar host montage. Which is very odd considering Whoppi was the first non-white person, and the first Oscar winner to host the show. Whoppi got emotional on the View today, as her co-host discussed their confusion about why she was not included in the montage. Click here to see what they had to say about.
